Channel 10's 9AM easter bunny segment

Thursday 13 April 2006
We were delighted when Channel 10's 9AM show with David & Kim invited Leigh & myself to visit the show. We took along three of the calmest bunnies that were at the shelter including the enormous flemish giant.

9AM's resident vet, Dr Julie Summerfield hosted the segment highlighting why rabbits should not be bought on impulse as easter gifts. The segment was excellent and covered all our requested subjects such as desexing, litter training, diet and why rabbits are not good pets for small children.

The bunnies were fabulous! The two in the basket settled in really well and all three were not nervous in the slightest. The big flemish, who was seated next to Dr Summerfield, made quite an impact. She was chosen not just because of her docile & friendly nature, but to highlight that rabbits can become very large and that people need to consider how much space & time they have to take on a rabbit as a pet.

Thank you Channel 10 & Dr Julie Summerfield for taking such a responsible stance on rabbits over the easter break!
